Our chef’s name is Isaiah C. Gonzalez, we call him “Chef Izzy”. He is the founding chef and owner of IzzyGonzo’s. The name of the business is comprised of his nicknames from high school, college, and the military. Chef Izzy has been cooking professionally for over 10 years now. In 2002, after graduating from high school, he enlisted into active duty with the United States Navy, where he would serve 5 years as a Culinary Specialist. After boot camp, in Great Lakes, Illinois he would receive Culinary Standard Certification and an AA in Culinary Arts from Kendall College in 2003. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia he also cooked at the Radisson in Downtown Hampton, Virginia as a Sous Chef. He also worked with other catering companies nearby over the course of a year and a half. In 2006, he would go on to earn Professional Culinary Certification from the First Coast Technical Institute in St. Augustine, Florida. Upon his honorable discharge in December of 2007 he moved back to his hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada. Since then he has worked for several catering companies, resorts, restaurants, and senior facilities across the Las Vegas Valley including; Air Gourmet, Air Green, Kabuki Japanese Restaurant, Serenity Adult Day Care, Wolfgang Puck Catering, and more recently at The Aria in the new City Center.
Chef Izzy is currently working on his BA in both Culinary Management and F&B Operations Management to unify his degrees, as well as later pursuing a Master Chef certification. He's also undergoing certification through the American Culinary Federation. Chef Izzy started this catering business in order to give back to his hometown through charity work and also to form a business that would be comprised of professionals who are passionate about creating affordable, healthy, and elegant gourmet foods for our clients. Most recently Chef Izzy has participated in the food production for "The Next Iron Chef" as well as help compose meals for a few local celebrities. And now ten precent of all his business profits are being split to various charities. Chef Izzy is also aspiring to form his own charity in the city of Las Vegas very soon.
